Richard Mace Associates Ltd was founded by Richard Mace in 2020. Richard is a Chartered Structural Engineer and a Member of The Institution of Structural Engineers.
Richard has over 20 years experience designing building structures since graduating from the University of Sheffield with a degree in Civil and Structural Engineering.
His design experience ranges from small scale domestic alterations (simple openings within existing walls) to large multi-storey residential apartment buildings.
After graduating Richard worked in Sheffield and was involved in large scale projects using all the common structural materials.
Since relocating to Carlisle in 2004 Richard has worked for Bingham Yates Limited (formally Bingham Yates & Partners) and has been Project Engineer on numerous projects, ranging from small domestic alterations to large commercial developments.
Richard has wideranging experience in the design and detailing of projects using all the common structural materials.
Structural design for Domestic Clients
For the smaller Domestic projects (simple new openings or simple alterations, etc), we would usually visit the proposed site to carry out an initial survey, to help determine the load bearing structure, and to calculate the applied loads. We would then advise you of the best option to support the applied loading to allow the alterations to be carried out. We would then provide a structural design calculation package with drawings and details for submission to the Local Authority as part of your Building Regulation application and also for a Builder/Contractor to cost and construct the works.
Designs for small scale Commercial developments and extensions
For larger Domestic or small Commercial projects, we would usually work from your Architects plans and details. We would then provide a full structural design calculation package with drawings and details for submission to the Local Authority as part of your Building Regulation application and also for a Builder/Contractor to cost and construct the works.
